How dynamic QR codes work

A QR code is a door to a web page. A dynamic QR code keeps the same door while you change what is behind it.

Why dynamic matters

With repUP, the code you print opens your personalised link. When you update your menu or change what the link opens, the printed code stays the same. You can print table cards once and keep them in use, instead of reprinting every time something changes.

Where to place them

  • Table cards or table tents for menus and feedback.
  • The counter, for ordering or quick feedback.
  • Bill folders and receipts, where guests are already relaxed and holding their phones.
  • Windows and doors, so passers-by can see your menu.
  • Takeaway bags and boxes, to invite repeat orders.

Making them scan reliably

  • Print at least around 2 cm square as a rule of thumb, and larger if guests will scan from a distance.
  • Keep strong contrast, such as dark code on a light background.
  • Leave a clear blank border around the code.
  • Add a short instruction next to it, like “Scan to see the menu”.
  • Test it on a few different phones in your actual lighting before printing in bulk.

Limitations to know about

  • Scratched, glossy or low-contrast prints may not scan.
  • A code is only as good as the page it opens. Make sure each code leads to the right tool for that location.
  • Guests need a phone with a camera and an internet connection.
