Managing Menus Across Multiple Locations

Once a restaurant has a second location, the menu stops being one document. Dishes, prices and availability can differ. The challenge is keeping them consistent where it matters and different where it needs to be.

Decide what is shared and what is local

  • Usually shared: dish names, descriptions, photos, dietary tags and branding.
  • Often local: prices, availability, specials, opening hours and delivery areas.

Common problems

  • A dish appears on one location’s menu but not on another’s, and staff do not know.
  • Prices differ without a reason, which confuses guests.
  • A change is made at head office but never reaches the printed menu in a branch.
  • Nobody is sure who is responsible for a change.

Create a clear process

  1. Name an owner for the master menu.
  2. Decide how a branch requests a change.
  3. Decide how quickly changes should be live.
  4. Keep a short log of what changed and when.

Use one source of truth

Digital menus help because changes appear on a link rather than in a stack of printed copies. Give each location its own link and QR code, so guests see the right menu for the place they are in.

Check that your software can do this

Ask any vendor how multiple locations are handled, including who can edit what, before you commit. If you run more than one site and want to use repUP, contact us to talk through your setup.
